Unthinkable Love.

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. [Eph 3:16-19]

Francis Chan called it Crazy Love. It is crazy! Imagine it…a love that surpasses knowledge. A perfect love. Many don’t understand it because all they’ve known is human love (which is broken and imperfect). Man will always let us down, but God’s love is forever. His love is unfailing. And He’s proved it…He laying down everything, even His life. We were his enemies, yet He drew us to Himself. We spat in His face, yet He pursued us. We rejected Him, yet His love remains.

Gospelink’s mission, in a nutshell is  to carry this message…what we call “Gospel”- the good news of the truth of His love – to the various peoples of Africa and Asia. We want each individual, young and old to understand the love God has for them and how He has demonstrated that by sending His Son, Jesus Christ. Gospelink sponsors over 1,100 preachers on 2 continents in 12 nations, each one having an incredible testimony of how this love has transformed their lives. These men, because of His great love, serve faithfully day-in and day-out, risking everything – their comfort, their security, even their lives.  Those of us serving state-side want to make their ministry as fruitful as possible, equipping them with the tools they need to effectively reach their world with the message of the Gospel. Team up with us! God is using us mightily; the Word is going out and it is NOT returning void – just as He said. Lives are being changed. People are being constantly awakened and re-awakened to the glorious truth of God’s love.

Our prayer here at Gospelink is that which Paul prayed for the church at Ephesus – that God would strengthen you by His Spirit, that you would grasp the crazy vastness  of the love He has for you and stake your very lives in that love (be rooted in it). If this happens, God will flip a light on inside of you and those around you in darkness will see the light and be drawn to it. This is already happening in Africa and Asia and anywhere our preachers are – people are being drawn to the light. Help us reach them! Join the movement.

Inoculated to the Gospel

Charlotte, NC. I love it. It’s what I consider my hometown. But God bless it… it’s a hotbed for church plants. Popping up like popcorn…one after another after another. Meeting in homes, YMCA’s, middle schools, high schools, warehouses, church buildings, strip malls, movie theaters…everywhere imaginable. This is great, on one hand, because the gospel is going out. It’s a curse in a way too, though. In Charlotte (as is the case in many other places, I’m sure), there is a culture of half-baked theology. Most everyone has some working knowledge of who Jesus is from the sermons their spouse or parents have dragged them to. Or perhaps they were raised in the church. Regardless, there is a complacency there; a contentment with their understanding of the Gospel. And therein lies the major problem.

An inaccurate or incomplete understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ is more detrimental than good; it’s heresy.We cannot get to the place where we are “content” with what we know, but instead, be constantly checking all presuppositions and worldviews against the Word of God. Whether you were raised conservative or liberal, legalistic or “come as you are”; whether you’re a new believer or a seasoned veteran, young or old, this is true.

And this is the gospel.

That an all-powerful, holy and good God created you and I to be in a tight-knit, intimate relationship and for mutual enjoyment.  He didn’t want to force love on us, so he gave us the option – choose him or choose self. The problem: We choose self, separating us and effectively destroying the relationship we were created to be a part of. The solution: God gave everything He had – He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, who came to US, pursued us, lived a perfect life, and died a horrible death, and in so doing, He took on Himself the wrath that WE (you and I) deserve. For a moment, the Son of God laid His life down and in 3 days took it back up again, claiming power over sin and death, restoring us to a good relationship with God forever, and empowering us to live the life He lived. In the blink of an eye – the moment we confess Jesus as Lord and believe in our hearts that He’s been raised – we are saved from eternal damnation and are able to enjoy our Creator for eternity – starting NOW.

If you’ve received Christ as I have, let’s live transformed lives that reflect the truth of the Gospel. Let’s make our lives a song that He sings.

Pastor of the Week: Justin Malambwe

Want to meet a REAL Zambian pastor? See what his life is like? How he reaches his world with the Gospel? Well this is Pastor Justin Malambwe – one of many Gospelink-sponsored national preachers from Zambia. Below is his personal testimony – how the Gospel of Jesus Christ has reached his heart and transformed his life; how he now takes that same Gospel to his world and sees countless lives changed forever as a result.

Justin and his wife, Dorothy, have 11 children. They live in the Solwezi region of Zambia in a 3-room, mud brick home with no electricity or indoor plumbing.  Justin devotes most of his time to preaching, but is also a farmer and spends about 20 hours a week in the fields.

Here is his testimony:

I was born into a Christian family, but I was not a believer myself .  My parents used to tell me to go with them to church and attend service. I did not like going to the service with them because I did not know Jesus or the love of God in my life.

One day my parents insisted that I go with them to the church.   I agreed, and went with them that Sunday.  The preacher was preaching about the death of Christ which brought salvation to sinners.  The message touched my heart and I realized that I was a sinner without Jesus.  I understood that I could do nothing but receive eternal death without Jesus.  When the invitation was issued, I went forward and confessed my sins with my mouth, and asked Jesus to come into my heart and be the ruler of my life.

My wife, Dorothy, was born into a Christian family and her parents were devoted leaders in the church.  Although her parents were Christians, she was not yet a child of God.  One day a visiting preacher came to her church to preach the salvation message.  He preached about the love of God for lost sinners so that they might have eternal life.  After this message, Dorothy repented of her sins, and accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior.

In my ministry I very much enjoy preaching, teaching, leadership training, counseling, and discipleship.  I am also involved in outreach ministries such as church planting, soul winning, evangelism, preaching in crusades, and many other things.  The Lord has helped me to start many new churches, lead several hundred people to Christ and to train men for the ministry.  I look forward to what the Lord has in store for me in the future.  I want to continue living for Him each and every day.

Because ministry doesn’t provide enough money to support his family, Justin  must spend 20 hours a week as a farmer. For $35 a month, YOU could provide Justin with enough funding to devote the extra 20 hours per week to ministry!
